Spanish Communists Condemn European Interference on Cuban Affairs

Havana, Feb 12 (ACN) The European Union's interference on Cuba
internal affairs following the Bush Plan patterns was denounced Monday
in a resolution of support to the island published in Madrid by the
Spanish Communist Party (PCE, in Spanish).

In the document, the PCE says the EU is preparing a "mid to long-term
strategy" promoted by the Czech Republic, which even has a secret
system similar to the plan against Cuba by President George W. Bush.

It also points out that the White House is training a denominated
"Group of Friends of Democratic Cuba," made up by the Czech Republic,
Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia.

After warning that strategy will only worsen the already complex
Cuba-EU relations, the PCE reiterates the latter has no moral authority
to impose any condition on its relations with Cuba, reports PL news
agency.

The Spanish communists condemned the EU's anti-Cuban policy through the
Common Position boosted by former President Jose Maria Aznar, and noted
that its marked interventionist nature has only damaged the European
countries' interests.

After criticizing the EU incapacity to formulate its own independent
policy and caving in to US interests, the PCE states that new measures
respond to Bush s failure to overthrow the Revolution.

Subsequently, the PCE's Executive Committee denounces all attempts to
increase the EU interference in Cuba, and it is against any measure
aimed at that purpose.
