Spartacus Lives! is a domain which was "given" to us after another person decided to no longer use the domain.

Some suggested using the site for a leftish news site, but we declined doing that simply because of the amount of work involved. But the idea stuck.

Then, one day I was reading e-mail news distributed by the New York Transfer News Collective (aka NY Transfer). This group runs a busy e-mail mailing list and provides news of the day from many sources.

It clicked! Why not import that news into a web site so that others can reply/comment on news articles and so the great news provided by the New York Transfer News Collective is more easily searchable? Thus, a use for this domain/web site.

While other news may be added from time to time, let's be perfectly clear: the vast majority of the content of this web site comes straight from the NY Transfer News Collective's mailing list. They do the work and deserve all the credit -- we just import their news. In many ways, we're just a cleaned up "mirror" of their mailing list's archives with comment and search capabilities, along with some other features. (Note: At the present time, due to a software bug, we are only importing a random subset of the NY Transfer News Collective's mailing list.)

The NY Transfer News Collective is a free service of Blythe Systems and has been providing "Information for the Rest of Us" and "All the News That Doesn't Fit" since 1985. We have no financial or other interest in them other than being a huge admirerer of their work (we need more good people doing things like this for the public).
